Men's Soccer Fights to Draw Against Immaculata

CHESTER, Pa. - Freshman goalkeeper Danny Thompson made crucial saves to help propel the Widener University men's soccer team to a scoreless draw against Immaculata on Wednesday evening at Leslie C. Quick Stadium.

KEY PLAYERS HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a scoreless first half, Thompson made two back-to-back saves to keep Widener alive.
  • Widener outshot the Mighty Macs 10-5 in the second half, however, the game remained 0-0 and was sent into overtime.
  • Immaculata had an opportunity early in the first overtime with a header from Alex Noel in the 94th minute.
  • With seconds left on the board, Widener had one last chance at a corner kick. Shea Morgan found the end of it, but Mikey Kalpokas made the save to end the game in a 0-0 draw.
UP NEXT
Widener will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 16 as they face Gwynedd Mercy at home. Kickoff is slated for 5:00 p.m. at the Leslie C. Quick Stadium.
