GLASSBORO, N.J. –
Devan Rimmer scored a season-high of 17 points, however, it was not enough as the Widener University women's basketball team was dealt a 86-68 setback against the Rowan University Profs at Esbjornson Gymnasium on Saturday evening.
Rimmer was a bright spot offensively and led the Pride with a season-high of 17 points and eight rebounds.
Emily Hardy added a season-high of 14 points and had a total of nine rebounds. Classmate
Allison Gallagher recorded 12 points and
Tatiana Pleasant had a career-high of 12 rebounds.
Widener got the early jump in the contest as Gallagher connected on a layup in the first with the Pride leading a majority of the frame. The visitors went ahead by as many as five on two occasions, but a late spurt gave Rowan the 19-17 edge heading into the second.
The second quarter belonged to the Profs, however, the Pride attempted to claw back in the third when
Kyra Schenk made a two-point play to ignite an 8-0 run. Olivia Rulon closed out the frame with a trifecta to give the visitors a 73-52 advantage heading into the fourth and more than enough insurance to earn their sixth victory of the young season.
Widener will look to regroup as it travels to Center Valley, Pa. to take on the Marywood University Pacers. Tipoff is slated for 6:00 p.m. at the Insalaco Arena.
