CHESTER, Pa. –
Elijah Boyd recorded a career high in points and matched a season best in rebounds, but a late comeback effort for the Widener University men's basketball team came up short as the Pride fell to the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen 66-61 in  MAC Commonwealth contest on Wednesday night.

Boyd had 25 points to lead Widener and matched his career-best with seven rebounds.
Ryan McMahon netted 11 points and grabbed a team-high eight boards.
Nick Jackson scored 10 and added seven caroms. Drawing his first start of the season,
Jalen Howard scored eight and pulled down seven off the glass.

The Pride found itself in an early hole as a three-pointer by Sam Light put the Dutchmen up 26-10 nine minutes into the contest. The Blue and Gold clamped down defensively and started to find the bottom of the net, using an extended 23-10 run to close the gap to 36-33 with 1:07 remaining in the opening frame. Keying the run were Boyd and McMahon who scored 11 and six respectively during the spurt. As a team, Widener shot 10-for-15 while holding Lebanon Valley to 3-for-13 from the floor during the nearly 10-minute stretch.

After the teams traded baskets for the first five minutes of the second, LVC went on a 17-7 run, opening a 57-44 lead with seven minutes to go. Down 62-48 with three minutes left, the Pride continued to attack, coming out with a 13-2 sprint in a 2:27 span to slice the lead to 64-61 with 13 seconds left. Jackson came alive during the stretch, scoring seven of the points for the Blue and Gold.

Widener returns to action with a MAC Commonwealth matchup at Stevenson on Saturday, Dec. 2. Tipoff from the Owings Mills Gym is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
