CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University women's swimming won its season opener on Saturday, downing the Stevenson Mustangs, 170-85 in a Middle Atlantic Conference contest.

Nikki Mowry bookended the meet well, opening with a victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:34.40 before closing the proceedings with a victory in the 500 free, clocking in at 5:36.12.

Christine Kunzler also won multiple events for the Widener claiming the sprints, winning the 50 and 100 freestyle events with times of 25.08 and 55.51 respectively. She was also on a pair of victorious relay teams. Anchoring the 200-yard medley relay, she joined
Lauren Griffith,
Sammy Grogan, and
Jill Bujanowski to clock in at 1:55.55. Kunzler completed her meet, swimming the third leg of the 200 freestyle relay where she was flanked by
Kaylin Augustine, Griffith, and Bujanowski to touch the wall in 1:42.69.

Bujanowski won two events of her own on the afternoon. She won the 200 butterfly in 2:17.42 before finishing first in the 100 yard event with a time of 1:02.08.

The Pride returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 28 when it travels to Reading, Pa. for a MAC showdown against Albright. The meet is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
