FREDERICK, Md. –
Eliza Newlin registered two goals and one assist as the Widener University field hockey team blanked Hood, 6-0, in MAC Commonwealth action on Saturday afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field. The Blue and Gold is now 9-2-0 overall and 3-0-0 in conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Widener came out strong immediately entering the attacking third of the field and earning a penalty corner. The game's first shot was taken less than three minutes in when Herr fired one off that was saved by Hood's keeper.
- Scoma got the Pride on the board first with her third goal of the season in the 14th minute of play.
- Shortly after, Newlin and Herr tripled the lead with back-to-back goals just three minutes apart.
- The Blue and Gold held possession for the remainder of the second half while not allowing Hood to make any offensive plays.
- Ahead 3-0, Daniels was able to add another mark for Widener with an assist credited to Walker.
- Newlin registered her second goal of the game in the 56th minute and Ambros closed out the scoring for the Pride after dribbling the ball around the keeper and putting it in the back of the net for a 6-0 victory.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The Blue and Gold held a 35-1 advantage in shots including 24 in attempts on target.
- Widener now has nine wins on the season, the most since 10 in 2010.
