CHESTER, Pa. –
Sam Thach made nine saves, but an offensive spurt late in the first half lifted the No. 7 Messiah Falcons to a 4-0 victory against the Widener Pride in a MAC Commonwealth match on Saturday night.
Messiah took the lead early in the match, scoring in the seventh minute. The Pride kept it close throughout much of the remainder of the half before a pair of Falcon goals late in the frame pushed the lead to 3-0 at halftime.
Widener had the first opportunity of the second half as off a free kick,
Kimmy Lyons whistled a ball just over the crossbar five minutes in. The rest of the half saw much more even possession, but few attack opportunities. One that did go Messiah's way came off the foot of Maddie Kohl that required a leaping punch over the crossbar from
Sam Thach.
The Pride returns to action with a MAC Commonwealth contest at Arcadia on Wednesday, Oct. 18. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
