Women’s Swimming Soundly Defeats Baldwin Wallace

SARASOTA, Fla. (Jan. 6, 2016) – Sophomore Lauren Griffith (Doylestown, Pa.) and freshman Jill Bujanowski (Edgewater Park, N.J.) each factored into three first-place finishes to lead the Widener University women's swimming team to a 121-67 victory over Baldwin Wallace on Friday afternoon.

Griffith won the 50-yard freestyle in 26.74 seconds in addition to being a part of both relays. Bujanowski took first place in the 100 IM, hitting the wall in 1:04.46, and also factored into both winning relays.

Senior Melaney Heald (Georgetown, Del.), junior Liz O'Sullivan (Somers Point, N.J.), junior Christine Kunzler (Livermore, Calif) and freshman Sammy Grogan (Newtown, Pa.) also won individual events to secure the win the Pride. Heald was victorious in the 200 free and 100 back with times of 2:01.36 and 1:05.50, respectively, O'Sullivan captured the 100 fly in 1:03.91, Kunzler took the 100 free in 55.50, and Grogan won the 100 breast with a time of 1:13.66

Widener (7-1) will return to action to compete against Wilkes and host Cabrini on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 1 p.m.
