GLENSIDE, Pa. (Jan. 21, 2017) – Christine Kunzler (Livermore, Calif.) recorded two individual victories and swam on a victorious relay as the Widener women's swimming team fell to Arcadia 145.5 to 116.5 Arcadia in the final dual meet of the season on Saturday afternoon.
The junior notched her first victory of the day as she recorded a time of 24.63 in the 50-yard freestyle. Kunzler shortly after came back to win the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.12. She then led the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:40.56. The relay team consisted of Kunzler, freshman Jill Bujanowski (Edgewater Park, N.J.), sophomore Lauren Griffith (Doylestown, Pa.), and senior Melaney Heald (Georgetown, Del.).
Other notable performances were made by junior Liz O'Sullivan (Somers Point, N.J.), Griffith, and Bujanowski who each won individual events. O'Sullivan took the 200 butterfly in 2:19.06, Griffith won the 100 backstroke in 2:19.88, and Bujanowski hit the wall at 1:01.06 for a first place finish in the 100 butterfly.
Widener (9-3) will look to win its third Middle Atlantic Conference title overall and first since 2011 when it travels to York, Pa. for the league's championship meet beginning on Feb. 9.
