CHESTER, Pa. (Sept 21, 2016) - The Widener men's soccer team earned a demanding 4-1 victory over Rosemont in a non-conference match on Wednesday evening.
The Pride improve 2-4-1 on the season, while the Ravens fall to 1-5-2 overall.
John Colbert (Louisville, Ky.) opened the scoring late in the second half with a through ball from
Kevin McKenna (North Wales, Pa.) at the top of the 18-yard. Senior
Tommy O'Keefe (Lutherville, Md.) then knocked home a penalty kick to double the lead.
Cavit Ulta put Rosemont on the board in the 67th minute by capitalizing off a free kick from 25 yards out, but sophomore Mac Shailey (State College, Pa.) answered back in the 72nd minute, putting away his second goal of the season. Shortly after, Shailey assisted teammate
Zach Wagner (Douglassville, Pa.) to secure the Pride with a 4-1 victory.
Dave Sousa (Springfield, Pa.) recorded one save in net for Widener which had a 15-6 advantage in total shots. Zach Bowe was forced to make five saves for the Ravens.
Widener will be back in action on Saturday evening when it travels to take on King's at 7 p.m.
