ASTON, Pa. (Sept. 16, 2016) - The Widener University volleyball team dropped both of its matches on Friday at the Knights Invitational, which is being hosted by Neumann. The Pride dropped a 3-1 decision to Catholic before falling in straight sets to Moravian.

Catholic 3, Widener 1 (25-18, 23-25, 21-25, 22-25)
Widener started off tournament play strong by winning the first set against Catholic by a score of 25-18, but the Cardinals recovered and took the next three frames to earn the victory. Sophomore
Nicole Dorman (East Norriton, Pa.) accumulated a double-double with 17 kills and 15 digs, while senior
Sabrina Barbieri (Glen Mills, Pa.) had a strong all-around effort with 46 assists, six aces and five digs. Senior
Lauren Elliott had 24 digs, and sophomore
Janie Kalinock (Ellicott City, Md.) contributed 11 kills to go along with five blocks.

Moravian 3, Widener 0 (19-25, 21-25, 23-25)
Later in the day, Moravian outlasted Widener in three close sets by scores of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-23. Seniors
Brooke Ruditys (Upper Chichester, Pa.) and Elliott finished with 14 digs apiece, while Dorman added 14 kills. Barbieri concluded the match with 27 assists.
