GRANTHAM, Pa. (Oct. 22, 2016) – The Widener University women's soccer team fell to nationally-ranked Messiah by a 4-0 score on Saturday evening at Shoemaker Field.
Widener (3-10-2, MAC Commonwealth 1-5) came out strong and held Messiah to a scoreless first half only allowing them to find three uncapitalized opportunities. Messiah's Marisa Weaver, however, opened the scoring in the 65th minute of the second half and the Falcons never looked back by putting away three more opportunities to end the match with a 4-0 decision.
Sara Yunez made one save to pick up the victory between the pipes for Messiah (13-2, MAC Commonwealth 6-0). Widener's
Jenna Keating (Havertown, Pa.) finished with five saves in the setback.
The Pride will regroup and challenge nationally-ranked Arcadia for its final home match at Leslie C. Quick Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.
