Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Lebanon Valley Outlasts Field Hockey, 1-0, on Senior Day

CHESTER, Pa. (Oct. 15, 2016) - Lebanon Valley scored a late goal in the first half and held on to defeat the Widener University field hockey team by a 1-0 decision in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action on Saturday afternoon at Edith R. Dixon Field.

The Dutchmen (9-5, MAC Commonwealth 2-2) scored the only goal they would need in the 24th minute of play when Brittany Fleisher found the back of the cage with an assist coming from Mikayla Poole.

Widener, however, applied pressure for the remainder of the game in an attempt to even the score with the Dutchmen. The Pride continued to send a barrage of shots throughout the game and outshot Lebanon Valley 8-7.

Senior Mikayla Ninos (Northampton, Pa.) held the score to a 1-0 decision with back-to-back saves in the 61st minute of the second frame. She totaled four in the contest, while Lebanon Valley's Sarah DiMaggio stopped three shots to secure the win.

Prior to the match, Widener recognized seniors Dana Adamson (Warrington, Pa.), Alyssa Buckley (Flourtown, Pa.), Meghan McLaughlin (Woolwich Township, N.J.), Colleen Riley (Tannersville, Pa.) for their contributions to the program.

Widener (6-7, MAC Commonwealth 1-3) will next host nationally-ranked Alvernia on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.
