CHESTER, Pa. (Oct. 12, 2016) – The Widener University women's soccer team fell to Albright College by a 5-1 decision in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action on Wednesday evening at Leslie C. Quick Stadium.
The Lions got on the board early by capitalizing in the 15th minute of the first half, but sophomore
Gabrielle Campbell (Mickleton, N.J.) answered back quickly six minutes later with her first goal of the season. Freshman
Rachel Hafer (Reading, Pa.) was credited with the assist on the play. Albright's Chrissy Terraces, however, found the back of the net in the 39th minute to bring the score to 2-1 before the half.
The match was back-and-forth with a shot ratio of 5-5 in both the first and second halves. However, Albright put away three more goals in the second frame to secure the win.
Albright's (9-4-1, MACC 3-0-1) Alexis Tunney turned down four shots, while freshman
Jenna Keating (Havertown, Pa.) recorded five saves for the Pride.
Widener (2-8-2, MACC 0-3) will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 5 P.M. to take on Lycoming at Leslie C. Quick Stadium. Seniors
Erica McDonough (Glendora, N.J.) and
Karli Luker (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) will be recognized for their contributions to the program prior to the match.
