CHESTER, Pa. (Oct. 15, 2016) – The Widener University women's soccer team earned a 3-0 victory over Lycoming on Saturday evening at Leslie C. Quick Stadium. The Pride scored three times in the first half and never looked back.
The Pride wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Shortly after sophomore
Brielle Errico (Monmouth Junction, N.J.) took a shot that hit off the post, junior
Kelliann Burns (Clarksboro, N.J.) found senior
Karli Luker (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) for the first marker of the match in just the seventh minute of action. Sophomore
Shea Scannell (Linwood, N.J.) then doubled the lead with a strike from 30 yards out just 6:08 later, and junior
Eva Reyes (Cranbury, N.J.) added insurance by finding the back of the net shortly before halftime.
Prior to the match, seniors
Erica McDonough (Glendora, N.J.) and Luker were recognized for their contributions to the program.
Freshman
Jenna Keating (Havertown, Pa.) earned her third shutout of the season by making four saves for Widener, which outshot its opponent by a lopsided margin of 34-5. Lycoming's Joelle Winey turned away 16 shots in the setback.
Widener (3-8-2, MAC Commonwealth 1-3) returns to the pitch when it travels to Alvernia on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 7:00 p.m.
