Women's Soccer Falls In Non-Conference Play to #9 TCNJ

CHESTER, Pa. (Sept. 6, 2015) – The Widener women's soccer team fell, 2-0, to ninth-ranked The College of New Jersey on Sunday afternoon at Leslie C. Quick Stadium.
 
The Pride fall to 0-2-1 on the season, while the Lions improve to 1-0-1.
 
Goalkeeper Olivia Pfautz (Ephrata, Pa.) faced 23 shots in the loss. The senior recorded nine saves on 11 shots on goal by the Lions.
 
Widener and TCNJ entered halftime with a scoreless tie, until the Lions' Taylor Lusardi headed home a corner kick into the bottom right of the net. Brianna Petro took the corner for TCNJ and found Lusardi in the center of the box for the opening goal. Lusardi finished the game with four shots.
 
Sarah Marion gave the Lions a two goal advantage in the 87th minute as she rocketed home a rebound from the top of the box.
 
Senior Nicole Foschini (Laurel Springs, N.J.) and sophomore midfielder Eva Reyes (Cranbury, N.J.) each notched a shot on goal for the Pride.
 
Christine Levering added six shots for TCNJ, while Elizabeth Thoresen recorde three.
 
The Blue and Gold will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to take on Immaculata at 6:00 p.m. in Immaculata, Pa.
