Men's Soccer Gives Up Game-Winner Late to Kean

SWARTHMORE, Pa. (September 5, 2015) – The Widener men's soccer team gave up a late goal as they fell to Kean, 3-2, at the Garnet Classic on Saturday.
 
The Pride entered half trailing 1-0, but came out of the locker firing room as senior Tori Remondelli (Point Pleasant, N.J.) tied the game up in the 51st minute.  The midfielder put home a bouncing ball in the box.
 
Sevag Kherlopian put home a rebound as he gave Kean a 2-1 lead in the 56th minute. Just over ten minutes later, Remondelli booted home a freekick from 25 yards out to tie the game back up.
 
The senior finished the game with six shots and three of them on goal.
 
Andrew Lopes headed the game-winner for Kean in the 81st minute.
 
Junior goalkeeper David Sousa (Springfield, Pa.) recorded eight saves for the Pride. Kean goalkeeper Brad Watkins earned the victory in net with three saves.
 
Senior Zac Furia (Springfield, Pa.), junior Tommy O'Keefe (Lutherville, Md.), sophomore John Colbert (Louisville, Ky.) and freshman Mac Schailey (State College, Pa.) and Khabir Baukman (Waldorf, Md.) each added a shot for Widener. The Blue and Gold were outshot 19 to 12.
 
Widener will be back in action on Sunday as they take on Cabrini at 6:00 p.m. at the Garnet Classic in Swarthmore, Pa.
