Men's Soccer Closes Out the Garnet Classic with a Scoreless Draw Against Cabrini

SWARTHMORE, Pa. (September 6, 2015) – The Widener men's soccer team battled to a scoreless draw against Cabrini on the second day of the Garnet Classic in Swarthmore, Pa.
 
Widener's record moves to 0-2-1, while Cabrini moves to 2-0-1.
 
Eric Taylor (Bensalem, Pa.) had a few chances early in the first overtime to send the Pride home with a victory. The senior forward shot the ball just wide left of a diving C.J. Serratore in the 95th minute.
 
Just moments later, Taylor forced to make Serratore make a tough save to keep the Cavaliers alive.
 
Taylor finished with four shots, with two of them being on target.
 
The Pride outshot the Cavaliers 28-13, and six to four on shots on goal. Widener also held the advantage on corners, 11-2, and only was off sides once.
 
Senior Tori Remondelli (Point Pleasant, N.J.) finished the game with five shots.  Senior defender Malik Krcic (Saylorsburg, Pa.) and freshman Kevin McKenna (North Wales, Pa.) each added three shots in the double-overtime match.
 
Junior goalkeeper Jonathan Rouse (New Freedom, Pa.) played 110 minutes of shut out soccer. He notched four saves on 13 shots faced.
 
The Blue and Gold will be back in action on Wednesday as they take Swarthmore in the "320 Challenge" at 7:00 p.m. in Swarthmore, Pa.
