ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – Freshman
Brielle Errico (Monmouth Junction, N.J.) scored in the 84th minute to lift the Widener University women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Eastern on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at Olson Field.
After a scoreless first half, Widener (4-4-1) got the only goal it needed when goalkeeper
Olivia Pfautz (Ephrata, Pa.) sailed a goal kick to midfield that made its way through the Eagle defense. Errico blitzed through several players on the back line, collected the ball and punched it past Eagle goalkeeper Adrianna Swinehart on a breakaway opportunity. It was her fourth goal of the season as well as her third game-winning tally.
Pfautz made five saves in the winning effort for Widener, while Swinehart turned away one shot in the setback for Eastern (3-6-1).
