Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Downs Bryn Mawr, 1-0, on Campbell’s First Career Marker

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Freshman Gabrielle Campbell (Mickleton, N.J.) scored her first career goal and senior goalkeeper Olivia Pfautz (Ephrata, Pa.) came up with a key save shortly afterwards to lead the Widener University women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Bryn Mawr on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Applebee Field.

Widener, which outshot its opponent 15-7 overall and 9-2 in the first half, got the only scoring it needed when Campbell received a throw-in from sophomore Brooke Palmieri (Erial, N.J.) in the 83rd minute. Palmieri was credited with the helper on the play.

Bryn Mawr (1-5) had a golden opportunity to net the equalizer and potentially force overtime when Nina Bertolaminull unleashed a shot from point-blank range. Pfautz, however, saved the attempt to preserve the Pride's third shutout win in their last four matches and fourth clean sheet of the season.

Pfautz finished the match with three saves to earn her fourth shutout of the fall for Widener, which was anchored by Kelliann Burns (Clarksboro, N.J.) defensively and has not allowed a goal in 180 minutes of action. Bryn Mawr's Aviva Kosansky turned away nine shots in the losing effort.

Widener (3-3-1) will look to win its third straight match when it hosts Rutgers-Newark on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 7:00 p.m.
