Men's Soccer Shutouts Southern Virginia For First Victory in 2015 Campaign

Buena Vista, Va. (September 12, 2015) – Behind two goals from freshman Dylan Pratzner (Wallingford, Pa.) and one from junior Tommy O'Keefe (Lutherville, Md.), the Widener men's soccer team recorded its first victory of the 2015 campaign with a 3-0 decision over Southern Virginia on Saturday.
 
The Pride improve to 1-3-1, while the Knights fall to 0-5.
 
Pratzner opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with his first collegiate goal off of a feed from classmate Kevin McKenna (North Wales, Pa.). The opening score of the game came off of a ten-yard shot passed the diving Keenan Carroll.
 
The freshman forward added his second goal of the game in 49th minute.
 
O'Keefe converted on a penalty kick attempt in the 30th minute.
 
Southern Virginia held the advantage over Widener in shots taken, 16-14. Junior keeper Jonathan Rouse (New Freedom, Pa.) recorded six saves in the victory.
 
Freshman Lukas Montesinos (West Long Branch, N.J.) and Pratzner led the Blue and Gold in shots, each with three.
 
The Pride will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to take on Wesley in Dover, Del. at 7 p.m.
