Men's Soccer Falls in Season Opening Battle to Stockton, 2-1

CHESTER, Pa. (September 1, 2015) – The Widener men's soccer team battled tough in the season opener against Stockton on Tuesday, but dropped the decision 2-1 at Leslie C. Quick Stadium.
 
Senior Tori Remondelli (Point Pleasant, N.J.) notched his first goal of the season in the 40th minute. The midfielder tied up the game as he stepped in to take a penalty kick for the Pride.
 
Stockton's Alex Kourahanis opened the scoring in the fourth minute as he took a long pass from Anthony Cologranson to beat a diving David Sousa (Springfield, Pa.). Clevon McPherson gave the Ospresys the lead in the 66th minute.
 
The Blue and Gold outshot Stockton 16 to 9, including 5-2 on shots on goal. Sousa allowed two goals in 90 minutes played.
 
Remondelli finished with four shots in the game, while seniors Eric Bihlear (Tabernacle, N.J.) and Malik Krcic (Saylorsburg, Pa.) added three and two shots apiece.
 
Bihlear, and freshman Kevin McKenna (North Wales, Pa.) and Dylan Pratzner (Wallingford, Pa.) each recorded a shot on goal for the Pride.
 
Widener will be back in action on Saturday as they play Kean at 5:00 p.m. in Swarthmore, Pa. as part of the Swarthmore Garnet Alumni Classic.
