ANNVILLE, Pa. (May 1, 2015) –  The second-seeded Widener softball team  shutout third-seeded Stevenson 4-0 in Game Two of the Commonwealth Conference Championships on Friday afternoon hosted by Lebanon Valley at the LVC Softball Park.
The Pride (24-7) move into the winner's bracket and will next face-off against the winner of four-seeded LVC and top-seeded Messiah on Saturday, May 2 at 11 a.m.  Stevenson (18-20) will now have to play fifth-seeded Alvernia at 4 p.m. Friday.
The blue and gold notched 10 hits over the course of the contest, en route to four separate innings of pushing across a run.  It started in the bottom of the first when senior first baseman 
Carissa Harris (Douglassville, Pa.) singled home junior shortstop 
Alie Alkins (Aston, Pa.), who had singled in the previous at bat.
The second run was plated in the following frame after Widener loaded the bases with two outs.  Junior right fielder 
Heather Forward (Philadelphia, Pa.) singled to left, enabling sophomore third baseman 
Angela Hood (Mullica Twp., N.J.) to come home.  The Pride added a third run in the fourth inning as freshman second baseman 
Lauren DelRomano (Broomall, Pa.) crossed the plate on a wild pitch.  In the fifth, Hood knocked in pinch runner 
Nicole Cavalier (Burlington, N.J.) for the fourth and final run on a single up the middle.
Sophomore hurler 
Alexis Schengrund (Hillsborough, N.J.) earned her 13th win in the circle, recording the complete-game, three-hit shutout. She registered five strikeouts in the contest, giving her 113 on the year which sets a new single-season Widener record passing Kelsey Shultz who notched 112 in 2011.
Sophomore 
Ally Horvath (Chalfont, Pa.), Harris, and Hood each finished the contest 2-for-3.  Hood added an RBI and a run scored.
Next up is Game Five of the Commonwealth Conference Tournament against the winner of Game Three between LVC and Messiah at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 2 at the LVC Softball Park.
