Men's Lacrosse Falls to Swarthmore in 320 Challenge Clash

SWARTHMORE, Pa. (Feb. 28, 2015) – Junior midfielder Marc LaVine (Nashua, N.H.) notched four goals as Widener men's lacrosse fell to Swarthmore, 8-6, at Clothier Field Stadium on Saturday.
 
LaVine opened the scoring with just over two minutes left in the first period. The junior's first goal of the season was assisted by sophomore attackman Tyler Schulte (Southampton, N.J.).
 
The Pride entered half-time with a 3-2 lead behind two goals from LaVine. Swarthmore (1-1) scored two unanswered goals in the third period to give the Garnet a 4-3 lead entering the final period. Chris Thomason, Ian Lukaszewicz and Braeden DeWan each totaled two scores for Swarthmore.
 
Sophomore midfielder Vince Marra (Morton, Pa.) added two unassisted goals in the loss for the Pride.
 
Widener (0-2) outshot the Garnet 41-37, but just 18 shots were on goal. The Pride were 16-of-18 on clear attempts, including six-of-six in the second half.
 
Junior goalie Chris Treat (Havertown, Pa.) recorded 14 saves in the loss for Widener.
 
The Pride return to action on Wednesday when they host Ursinus at 4:00 pm in the 2015 home opener at Leslie C. Quick Stadium.
