Men's Basketball Falls to Delaware Valley in Non-Conference Battle

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (Dec. 9, 2015) – Senior Laron Byrd (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the Widener men's basketball team as the Pride fell to Delaware Valley, 74-56, in non-conference action on Wednesday night.
 
Widener falls to 4-4 overall, and the Aggies improve to 6-1 on the season.
 
Byrd and sophomore Sardayah Sambo (Middletown, Del.) each recorded 11 points and seven rebounds for the Blue and Gold. The senior guard was four-of-nine from the field, including one-of-three from three-point range. Byrd added four assist in 29 minutes on the court.
 
Sambo finished with two blocks and two assist for the Pride.
 
Senior David Nicholson (Odenton, Md.) recorded ten points on four-of-eight shooting. The forward added three rebounds and two assist. Junior Kendall Green (Mount Laurel, N.J.) added six rebounds, one block, an assist and a steal in the non-conference game.
 
Nick Jackson (Rockville, Md.) finished four-of-nine from the field for nine points. He added three rebounds and one block.
 
Chris Moran led Delaware Valley with 22 points on nine-of-18 shooting from the field. He added 11 boards, with ten of them coming on the defense glass, for the double-double.
 
Widener will be back in action on Saturday as they host Stevenson in MAC Commonwealth action at 3:00 p.m. at the Schwartz Athletic Center.
