Men's Basketball Drops MAC Commonwealth Opener to Hood

FREDERICK, Md. (Dec. 5, 2015) – Sophomore Sardayah Sambo (Middletown, Del.) led all scorers as the Widener men's basketball team fell to Hood in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth opener, 64-61 on Saturday.
 
Sambo recorded 21 points and 11 rebounds for his second straight double-double. The Pride fall to 4-3, and 0-1 in MAC Commonwealth play, while Hood improves to 5-1 and 1-1 in league play.  The sophomore guard was three-of-five from the free throw line and added five blocks.
 
Forward David Nicholson (Odenton, Md.) added 18 points and three steals in the game for the Blue and Gold. The senior finished with four rebounds and two assist.
 
Sophomore Samuel Smith (Wyomissing, Pa.) added six points on two-of-six shooting off of the bench.
 
Hood, who was led by Jared Ruiz with 17 points, snapped a three-game winning streak by Widener.
 
The Pride will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Doylestown, Pa. to take on MAC Freedom opponent Delaware Valley at 7:00 p.m.
