MADISON, N.J. – Freshmen
Nicole Dorman (East Norriton, Pa.) and
Kierston Forney (Manassas, Va.) each recorded double-digit kills to lead the Widener University volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of Manhattanville at a MAC Crossover hosted by FDU-Florham on Saturday, Oct. 3. The Pride also suffered a 3-0 setback against the host school later in the day to finish the afternoon with a 1-1 ledger.
Widener swept the Valiants by set scores of 25-19, 25-20 and 29-27 to snap a two-game skid. Dorman registered 14 kills and Forney added 11 while hitting at an impressive .435 clip. Junior
Sabrina Barbieri (Glen Mills, Pa.) dished out 30 assists, while junior
Lauren Elliott (Aston, Pa.) recorded 16 digs.
In their second match, the Pride dropped all three sets to host FDU-Florham by scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-20. Barbieri just missed a double-double with 31 assists and nine digs to lead the way for Widener. Elliott finished with 18 digs, and Dorman and freshman
Natalie Winn completed the game with 11 and 10 kills, respectively.
Widener (10-9) resumes MAC Commonwealth play when it visits Arcadia on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m.
