Field Hockey Drops Conference Match to Alvernia

READING, Pa. (October 3, 2015) – The Widener field hockey was unable to gain momentum as they fell to conference opponent Alvernia, 3-0, on Saturday.
 
The Pride fall to 5-4, and 1-1 Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth play, while the Crusaders improves to 6-4 and 1-1 in league play.
 
Summer Liberto opened scoring late in the first half for Alvernia, as she knocked home a quick pass from Maragret Wentzel in the 26th minutes. Wentzel found the net for her 14th and 15th goals of the season in the second half.
 
Kayla Herr (Lancaster, Pa.) recorded one shot on target for the Pride, while Ashley Aires (Bayville, N.J.) added one shot.
 
Junior Brittany Lavin (Phillipsburg, N.J.) recorded two saves in net for Widener.
 
The Pride will be back in action Saturday as they host Stevenson at 12 p.m. at Edith R. Dixon Field.
