OWINGS MILLS, Md. (Oct. 10, 2015) – A goal from Kellen Wittman and an impenetrable back line allowed Stevenson to register a 2-0 victory over the Widener University women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon at Mustang Stadium.
Stevenson (6-8, MACC 3-0) did not allow the Pride to attempt a shot in the match and eventually broke through with the only goal it would need shortly before halftime. Working from inside the box, Wittman finished a pass from Kailee Ziegler to give the Mustangs a 1-0 advantage that they carried into the recess.
The Mustangs continued to dominate in the second half and added another marker in the 60th minute on an own goal due to a costly Widener defensive miscue. A Stevenson free kick was accidentally headed backwards and into the net by a defender to make it 2-0.
Tiffany McKee picked up the victory between the pipes for Stevenson without facing a shot. The Pride's
Olivia Pfautz (Ephrata, Pa.) was tacked with the loss despite making five saves.
Widener (4-7-1, MACC 0-3) will regroup and return to action to host Hood as part of Homecoming Weekend on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 5:00 p.m.
