Lawson Records a Double-Double as Men's Basketball Falls to Messiah in Commonwealth Play

Senior Greg Lawson (Mount Holly, NJ) recorded a double-double as Widener men's basketball fell to Messiah, 87-77, in Grantham, PA.
 
The forward grabbed a game-high ten rebounds and added 23 points to his line against the Falcons. Seven of his ten boards came on the offensive side. Lawson shot nine-of-13 from the field and five-of-six from the free throw line. He added two assist and one block in 32 minutes played.
 
Samuel Smith (Wyomissing, PA) recorded a career high 15 points. The freshman added six rebounds, two assist and one steal. Five of his six rebounds came on the defensive glass. Smith shot five-of-nine from three point range.
 
Geoff Boyle was one of two Falcons to record a double-double in the victory for Messiah (11-8, 4-7 CC). Boyle finished with a game high 24 points and ten rebounds. David Fernandez was the other Falcon player to record a double-double. He finished with 23 points and ten assist in the victory for the Falcons.
 
Widener (9-11, 2-9 CC) held the advantage on the boards over the Falcons, 45-27. The Pride scored 11 points off of ten turnovers and 32 points in the paint.
 
Sardayah Sambo (Middletown, DE) added eight rebounds and seven points for the Pride. The freshman finished with two assist and one block in the Commonwealth match-up.
 
Widener will be back in action at 8:00 pm on Wednesday when they host Lycoming in Commonwealth play in the Schwartz Athletic Center.
