Women's Basketball Falls in Commonwealth Battle Against Stevenson

Women's basketball fought hard against the Commonwealth Conference leader, but was unable to snag a home victory as Widener fell to Stevenson, 63-53, at the Schwartz Center.
 
Freshman Allison Gallagher (Souderton, Pa) recorded a game high 20 points for the Pride. The guard added five rebounds, one steal, and one assist against Stevenson.
 
Brianna Wylie (Mount Laurel, NJ) added 12 points for the Pride. The junior forward finished with a team high five rebounds and recorded one assist. Wylie shot six-of-nine from the field.
 
Stevenson (15-2, 9-0 CC) recorded 17 points off of turnovers as they earned their 13th straight victory. Sara Tarbert led the Mustangs with 17 points. The sophomore forward also added eight rebounds, three steals and one assist. Ty Bender recorded a team high ten rebounds in the victory for the Mustangs.
 
Senior Courtney Colella (Cinnaminson, NJ) and sophomore Aly Furgiuele (Norwalk, CT) each recorded four defensive rebounds for the Pride.
 
Widener (8-10, 2-7 CC) recorded 26 points in the paint. The seesaw battle had 13 lead changes during the Commonwealth match-up.
 
The Pride will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Reading, Pa to take on Albright in a Commonwealth Conference tilt at 6:00 pm.
