Sambo Records a Double-Double as Men's Basketball Falls to Hood at the Buzzer

Men's basketball fought hard as Sardayah Sambo (Middletown, DE) recorded a double-double, but Widener fell to Hood, 77-76, at the Schwartz Center.
 
The freshman guard recorded a team high 17 points and ten rebounds for the Pride. He shot eight-of-ten from the field, including a monster dunk mid-way through the second half.
 
Samuel Smith (Wyomissing, Pa) added 11 points in 14 minutes played for the Pride. The freshman shot three-of-four from three point range.
 
Trailing by two at halftime, Widener (9-6, 2-4 CC) shot 46.4% from the field in the second half to take a 15 point lead early.
 
Senior Chris Cook took the ball down the court for a game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer for Hood (7-7, 3-2 CC). The Blazers shot 50% from three point range in the game.
 
Junior Carlos Taylor (Upper Darby, Pa) finished with 12 points and five rebounds for Widener. He shot four-of-seven from long distance.
 
The Pride will take on Alvernia in Commonwealth action at 8:00 pm on Wednesday in Reading, Pa.
