Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Defeat to Eastern Ends Three Game Unbeaten Streak

Freshman Eva Reyes (Cranbury, NJ) scored early in the second half, but it was not enough as Widener fell 4-1 to Eastern at Leslie C. Quick Stadium.

Reyes took a pass from sophomore Erica McDonough (Glendora, NJ) a few yards outside the box for a 20-yard shot off the crossbar and into the net. The ball barely cleared the goal line as the freshman was able to cut into the Eagles three-goal lead.

Widener (3-4-2) entered the match on a three-game unbeaten streak, including two shutouts.

The Eagles (3-7) outshot the Pride in the two goal first half 8-4. Prior to today's match, Eastern had been outscored 23-3 in its last five matches.

The Eagles received two goals from freshman Amber Stirling just four minutes apart in the first half. The first goal for the freshman came in the 34th minute and the second in the 38th minute.

Junior Olivia Pfautz (Ephrata, PA) recorded three saves for the Pride.

Widener will take the pitch next on Saturday, when it opens Commonwealth Conference play on the road against Messiah at 5:00 pm in Grantham, Pa.
