Sienkiewicz Ties the Game Late, As Men’s Soccer Drops Heartbreaker in Double Overtime

Widener got a late goal to force overtime before being dealt a tough 3-2 loss in the second extra period at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

On the tying goal, junior Tori Remondelli (Point Pleasant, NJ) had a shot that bounced off the post to find the feet of Nick Sienkiewicz (Hatboro, PA). The freshman put home the rebound in the 90th minute to send the game into overtime.

The first overtime was held scoreless with Swarthmore having the only shot of the period. Just under five minutes into the second overtime, junior Ryan Meuth scored the winning goal off of a corner kick taken by Billy Evers.

The Pride held the lead early in the first half with a goal from junior Malik Krcic (Saylorsburg, Pa), heading in a throw from Eric Bihlear (Tabernacle, NJ) in the third minute. Krcic's goal was the first given up by Tyler Zon and the Garnet defense all season.

Shortly after, Swarthmore's Michael Superdock headed the ball into the back of the net. The Garnet tied the game in fifth minute before taking a lead in the 16th minute. Superdock scored his second goal of the game with the help of Alec McClean.

The Pride take the field next on Saturday as they host Cabrini at 7:30 pm. The night will also serve as the Friends of Jaclyn Night, as Widener helps raise awareness about pediatric cancer.
