Volleyball Drops a Pair at Haverford Invitational


Widener opened the 2014 campaign with a pair of losses against Stevenson, 3-0 (17-25, 23-25, 9-25), and Haverford, 3-0 (15-25, 18-25, 18-25) at the Haverford Invitational.
 
Stevenson (1-0) gained momentum in the third set recording 12 kills and only one error over 18 attacks for a .611 percentage. After a close second set, Widener (0-2) was limited to only five kills for a -.083 percentage.
 
Sophomore Sabrina Barbieri (Glen Mills, Pa) recorded a team-high 24 assists in the opening match at the Haverford Invitational. Senior Victoria Miller (West Chester, Pa) led the Pride with 15 digs.
 
Against Haverford (1-0), the Pride were led by senior Jessica Dembeck (Philadelphia, Pa) with seven kills on 18 attacks. Dembeck finished the match with a team high of .278 percentage.
 
After two matches, Barbieri leads the team with 40 assists and Miller sets the pace for digs at 29. Sophomore Brooke Ruditys finished with 10 kills and one service ace.


The Pride take the court against UMass Boston  at 10:00 a.m. and Susquehanna at noon at the Haverford Invitational on Sunday.
