Widener jumped to a two-goal lead in the first seven minutes before Lebanon Valley took control to give the home team a 16-9 Commonwealth Conference loss at Edith R. Dixon Field.
Widener came out like a team possessed, scoring three straight goals to grab a 3-1 lead. Junior Mackenzie Lindquist (Ocean City, NJ), sophomore Caitlin Mullner (Aston, PA) and junior Megan Granata (Broomall, PA) each scored in that span with senior Amy Albano (Columbia, MD) getting two assists.
Lebanon Valley did not panic by scoring seven of the next eight goals to grab an 8-4 halftime lead. Anna Pagels had three goals in that burst and Bailey Benz had two to complete her first-half hat trick.
Pagels scored 18 seconds into the second half for a 9-4 Dutchmen lead and Mel Modrick found the back of the net just over a minute later for a six-goal margin.
Albano dished a career-best five assists and now has 23 this season, one outside of the school's single-season top 10 list. She also has 43 for her career, four out of the team's top 10.
Lindquist, junior Pinky Schneider (Moorestown, NJ) and sophomore Megan Mills (Riverton, NJ) all scored twice with Lindquist totaling seven draw controls for the Pride (3-11, 3-4 CC). Junior Megan Dunn (Oxford, PA) ended with eight saves.
Pagels had four goals and two assists, Benz notched four and one, Sam Boyce had three and four with Modrick netting three goals for LVC (13-3, 6-1). Shelby Morris amassed seven saves.
Widener closes its season Saturday at former league rival Elizabethtown, starting at 1:00 pm.
