Schneider's Seven-Point Day Leads Women's Lacrosse to 17-10 Triumph at Lycoming

Junior Pinky Schneider (Moorestown, NJ) had career highs of five goals and seven points in helping Widener to a huge 17-10 Commonwealth Conference victory at Lycoming in Williamsport, PA.
 
The Pride took over the game by scoring 10 straight goals in a span of roughly 16 1/2 minutes to turn an 8-5 deficit into a 15-8 lead with 20:10 remaining.  The victory moved Widener (3-9, 3-2 CC) into a tie with Alvernia (9-5, 3-2) for the fourth and final conference-tournament spot.
 
Schneider began the outburst with 6:36 to play in the first half on a free-position goal, which was followed by two goals each from senior Amy Albano (Columbia, MD) and junior Megan Granata (Broomall, PA) for a 10-8 halftime margin.
 
Freshman Jamie Parent (Millville, NJ) scored a free-position marker just 28 seconds into the second half for an 11-8 Widener lead and Granata added a free-position goal only 34 seconds later.  Schneider, Albano and junior Mackenzie Lindquist (Ocean City, NJ) also scored to end the burst.
 
Lindquist reached four goals for the sixth time in her career and notched a personal-best 13 draw controls.  Granata scored a career-best four goals, Albano netted three for her first hat trick of the season and junior Megan Dunn (Oxford, PA) made five saves.
 
Maureen Heagy scored four goals, Savannah Fox netted three, Casey Maguire had two and Nicole Gerling made 13 saves for the Warriors (5-9, 2-3).
 
Widener is home next Thursday against Stevenson, beginning at 7:00 pm.
