Men's Basketball Dealt 77-68 Loss at Arcadia

(box score)

A run midway through the second half to get back in the contest was not enough for Widener in a 77-68 Commonwealth Conference loss at Arcadia in Glenside, PA.

The Pride (13-12, 7-11 CC) went on a 13-5 run over five minutes to close to a 59-57 deficit with 9:55 left.  Junior David Nicholson (Odenton, MD) netted eight points in that run, including the last six on a pair of 3-pointers.

But Arcadia (9-16, 4-14) gained control with a 9-2 run over 4 1/2 minutes for a 68-59 lead with 5:29 to play.  Alex Cohen scored four points in the burst and Torrell Candelaria ended things on a 3-pointer.

Junior Greg Lawson (Mount Holly, NJ), who entered the contest 12th in the country in double-doubles, notched his 15th of the season by closing with 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Nicholson scored 17 points off the bench on 7-of-14 shooting with junior Dillon Fields (Medford, NJ) getting 15 points and eight rebounds.

Lawson now is at 301 rebounds this season, only 19 shy of the top five in school history.
