Women's Basketball Drops Heartbreaker in Commonwealth Play to Messiah

Women's basketball fought hard but was unable to come away with the win as Widener fell to Messiah, 67-65 at the Schwartz in Commonwealth Conference action.
 
The Pride received 18 points from junior Ally Ferrucci (Vineland, NJ). The guard added nine assists and one rebound in the loss. She shot five-of-six from the free throw line and six-of-nine from the field.
 
Freshman Allison Gallagher (Souderton, PA) recorded a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds. The guard two assists and one steal for the Pride.
 
Messiah (4-5, 2-1 CC) was led by Gillian Glackin with 27 points. She shot 15-of-20 from the free throw line.
 
Julia Venturelli (Bridgewater, NJ) added two 3-pointers, including a key shot to tie the game at 50 mid-way through the second half. The freshman finished with 13 points and one rebound.
 
Widener (3-4, 0-2 CC) will take the court next on Wednesday when they travel to take on Swarthmore at 6:00 pm in non-conference action.
