Women's Basketball Falls Late to Cross-Town Rival Swarthmore

Freshman Allison Gallagher (Souderton, Pa) led women's basketball in a hard fought game as Widener fell to cross-town rival Swarthmore, 70-68, in Swarthmore, Pa.
 
The freshman recorded 14 points, one assists and seven rebounds against the Garnet.
 
Junior Ally Ferrucci (Vineland, NJ) tied the game at 68 on a three-pointer with .17 seconds left in the game. The guard recorded eight points and two rebounds in the game. She shot two-of-three from long distance in 37 minutes played.
 
Senior Courtney Colella (Cinnaminson, NJ) led the Pride on the glass with nine boards. Eight of those rebounds came on defense for Widener (3-5, 0-2 CC).
 
Widener (3-5, 0-2 CC) held the advantage over the Garnet on the boards 49-31. Swarthmore (3-5, 0-4 CC) recorded 26 points in the paint against the Pride.
 
Freshman Julia Venturelli (Bridgewater, NJ) added 11 points and one rebound in the game for Widener.
 
The Pride will be back in action on Saturday when they host Rowan at 1:00 pm at the Schwartz Center.
