Colella's Double-Double Leads Women's Basketball to Victory Over Rowan

Senior Courtney Colella (Cinnaminson, NJ) recorded a double-double as Widener women's basketball handed Rowan their first loss of the season, 76-71, at the Schwartz Center.
 
The senior forward recorded 13 points and a team high ten rebounds. She added four assists, two steals, and one block in the victory. Seven of her boards came on the defensive side as Widener (4-5, 0-2 CC) held the advantage on the glass over the Profs 36-33.
 
Freshman Julia Venturelli (Bridgewater, NJ) and senior Kristina Reiter (Sewell, NJ) each added a team high 15 points for the Pride. Venturelli shot five-of-eight from the field with three of those shots being made from three-point range. Reiter shot four-of-nine from the field and five-of-eight from the free throw line.
 
Rowan (8-1, 5-0 NJAC) received a game high 24 points from sophomore Anyssa Sanchez. The guard shot 11-of-15 from the field.
 
Allison Gallagher (Souderton, Pa) added 14 points in the victory. She shot two-of-four from the long distance and six-of-thirteen from the field. The freshman guard recorded three assists and one steal for the Pride.
 
Widener will be back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Owings Mills, Md. to take on conference opponent Stevenson at 6:00 pm.
