Women's Basketball Falls in Commonwealth Conference Opener to Albright

Women's basketball fought hard but was unable to steal the win, as Widener fell to Albright, 76-69, in the opening game of the Commonwealth Conference season at the Schwartz Center.
 
Ally Ferruci (Vineland, NJ) recorded a double-double with 16 points and ten assists in the loss. The junior also recorded one block and one steal for Widener (3-3, 0-1 CC).
 
Freshman Allison Gallagher (Souderton, Pa) recorded a team high 22 points for the Pride. The guard added two assists, one block and one steal. She shot seven-of-18 from the field with two rebounds.
 
Albright (4-2, 1-0 CC) was led by Jane Joyce with 15 points. Forward Kelecia Harris recorded a double-double for the Lions with 19 rebounds and 12 points.
 
Freshman Julia Venturelli (Bridgewater, NJ) shot four-of-six from three point range to record 12 points for Widener.
 
The Pride will take the court on Saturday at 4:00 pm when they host Messiah in Commonwealth play at the Schwartz Center.
