Lavin Leads Field Hockey in Victory Over Hood

Sophomore Brittany Lavin (Phillipsburg, NJ) scored late in the first half to lead Widener to a 2-0 Commonwealth Conference victory over Hood at Edith R. Dixon Field.
 
Lavin's third goal of the season was assisted by a familiar connection, Meghan McLaughlin (Woolwich Twp., NJ). The pair connected earlier in the season against Cabrini.
 
McLaughlin recorded her second assist of the season as Widener (3-7, 1-1 CC) earned its first conference victory this season.
 
The Pride's defense was able to hold Hood (5-5, 0-2) to only two shots in the game.
 
Kayla Herr (Lancaster, Pa) scored her first collegiate goal midway through the second half to give Widener some breathing room. The freshman scored in the 56th minute on a penalty stroke.
 
Widener will be back on the field on Tuesday as it hosts Cedar Crest at 7:00 pm in non-conference play at Edith R. Dixon Field.
