Volleyball Finishes Regular Season With 3-0 Victory Over Albright

Widener made quick work of Albright in just 60 minutes and closed the regular season with a 3-0 Commonwealth Conference victory (25-17, 25-16, 25-13) at Schwartz Center.

Widener came out blazing in the first set with 16 kills and only three errors for a .361 hitting percentage.  Jessica Dembeck (Philadelphia, PA) had five kills in that set and fellow senior Kaitlin Schnalzer (Bethlehem, PA) added four.

The Pride had 13 kills in the second set with a .146 percentage before settling things in the third with 12 kills and only two errors for a .333 percentage.

Schnalzer played great again with 13 kills, no errors, 10 digs and a .591 hitting percentage.  She now has 963 career kills, eighth best in school history.

Sophomore Brooke Ruditys (Upper Chichester, PA) notched 11 kills and 14 digs for her team-best 13th double-double this season.  Senior Victoria Miller (West Chester, PA) had 16 digs, sophomore Sabrina Barbieri (Glen Mills, PA) amassed 34 assists, Dembeck posted nine kills and senior Caitlin Horan (Morristown, NJ) added six block assists.

Claudia Guise had 17 assists, Caitlin Klotzbach recorded 15 digs and Marisa Bartone pounded eight kills for the Lions (8-19, 1-7 CC).

Tonight was the final home match for Schnalzer, Miller, Dembeck and Horan.  The quartet helped the Pride to a trio of conference-tournament appearances in that span, including a trip to the league semifinals in 2011.

Widener (7-23, 4-4) is the fifth seed for the conference tournament and next Monday visits fourth-seeded Lycoming in Williamsport, PA.  Match time is 7:00 pm.
