Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Gets 2-0 Triumph Over Albright on Senior Day

Jenna Pedrick (Sicklerville, NJ) celebrated Senior Day with her first goal of the season and sophomore Erica McDonough (Glendora, NJ) added an insurance marker for Widener, which ended its regular-season home schedule with a 2-0 Commonwealth Conference victory over Albright at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

A primarily defensive game saw only 12 shots with Widener taking nine of them.  The Pride owned a 5-1 shots edge at halftime, but the scoreboard still read zeros at the break.

Pedrick then decided to crack the scoreboard in the 79th minute, giving the Pride a 1-0 lead.  Sophomore Karli Luker (Mechanicsburg, PA) threaded the needle between two defenders on a cross and found Pedrick, who deflected it home from six yards for her 11th career goal.

McDonough, who got the secondary assist on Pedrick's goal, buried her third of the season in the 83rd minute for the final.  She put a shot on cage that bounced away from goalkeeper Jaymee Stepp and across the line.

Pedrick and McDonough each had three shots and junior Olivia Pfautz (Ephrata, PA) made two saves for the Pride.

Emily Sousa fired two shots and Stepp came up with five saves for the Lions.

The Pride on this day honored their six seniors who have meant a great deal to the program and helped the squad to a record campaign last season, in which they went 14-3-3 and posted 12 shutouts.

The victory puts Widener (5-8-3, 2-4-1 CC) within two points of Albright (7-9-1, 3-4) for fifth place in the conference.  Each team has one game remaining before the conference tournament, which consists of five teams.

That game for the Pride is not until next Saturday, when it visits Lycoming for a noon start in Williamsport, PA.
