Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Dealt Tough 1-0 Loss at Hood

Widener headed to Maryland looking for a crucial Commonwealth Conference victory, but left with a tough 1-0 loss to Hood in Frederick, MD.

The Blazers, who owned an 11-6 shots advantage, scored in the 56th minute.  Drew Demich got the ball on a breakaway down the right sideline, moved his way toward the goal and buried his ninth marker of the season.

Widener's best chance for the equalizer came in the 83rd minute when junior Tori Remondelli (Point Pleasant, NJ) had his shot stopped by Henry Mills.

Remondelli and Tommy O'Keefe (Lutherville, MD) each took two shots and sophomore Dave Sousa (Springfield, PA) made two saves for the Pride.

Demich closed with three shots and Mills amassed three saves for the Blazers (8-6, 3-1 CC).

Widener (9-4-1, 2-3) sits in fifth place in the Commonwealth Conference with just three league matches left.  The top five teams compete in the league tournament, which starts November 4.

Widener is back in action next Wednesday at Lebanon Valley, starting at 4:00 pm in Annville, PA.
