Remondelli Sets Record as Men's Soccer Defeats Stevenson

Junior Tori Remondelli (Point Pleasant, NJ) scored twice in a record-setting day as Widener defeated Stevenson, 3-1, in Commonwealth Conference play at Leslie C. Quick Stadium.
 
Remondelli rocketed home a 26-yard shot off of a defensive miscue by the Mustangs in the 47th minute to tie the all-time record for goals in a career.
 
He set the new school record for goals scored in a career in the 84th minute when classmate Eric Taylor (Bensalem, Pa) found him at the top of the box.
 
The junior now holds the all-time record for goals scored in a career with 24. Remondelli also is tied for first all-time in goals scored in a season with 12. He now is tied for second all-time in points in a season with 27 and tied for third all-time for points in a career with 54.
 
Widener (8-3-1, 1-2 CC) held the advantage over Stevenson (9-5-1, 0-2-1) in shots, 19-7.
 
Junior Eric Bihlear (Tabernacle, NJ) opened the scoring in the second minute when he headed home a rebound for his second goal of the season.
 
Jesse Zafiratos, Widener assistant coach, said "It was a big conference win for us. Stevenson is a very good team and when we play a full 90 minutes, things go well for us."
 
Sophomore Dave Sousa (Springfield, Pa) recorded two saves on his way to his eighth victory of the season.  
 
Widener will be back on the pitch on Tuesday as they host Arcadia at 7:00 pm at Leslie C. Quick Stadium.
