Men's Basketball Falls, 72-53, to Lycoming

Widener fell into an early hole in the first half and could not recover in a 72-53 Commonwealth Conference loss to Lycoming at Schwartz Center.
 
The Warriors opened a 41-26 halftime lead by shooting 46 percent (16-of-35) from the floor and holding the Pride to just 26 percent (8-of-31).  Kevin Anthony scored 10 points in the half with Michael Rudy adding nine for the visitors.
 
Lycoming (6-6, 2-4 CC), which led by as many as 71-48 late in the contest, shot 47 percent (27-of-58) from the field and posted a 53-44 rebounding edge.
 
Jourdan Wilson scored 20 points off the bench on 9-of-11 shooting, Rudy had 14 points and 10 rebounds, Anthony scored 12 points and Rob Pillow added 10 for the Warriors.
 
Sophomore Laron Byrd (Philadelphia, PA) scored 12 points, senior Rob McPherson (Bowie, MD) netted eight points with junior Dillon Fields (Medford, NJ) adding seven, six rebounds and six steals for the Pride.
 
Junior Greg Lawson (Mount Holly, NJ), who entered the day fifth in the country with 12.9 rebounds per contest, amassed seven points and nine rebounds for Widener.
 
The Pride (8-5, 2-4) entered the game first in the country with 281 made free throws and fourth with 93.5 points per contest.
 
Widener is on the road Wednesday at Alvernia, starting at 8:00 pm.
