Men's Soccer Handed 3-0 Loss By Wilkes

Widener allowed three early goals and was unable to mount a comeback in the second half against Wilkes for a 3-0 loss in Edwardsville, PA.

Wilkes (3-1) opened the scoring in the third minute when Nicholas Patricia was able to poke a ball past senior goalie Jakub Valdner (Bratislava, Slovakia). Valdner finished with six saves for the Pride.

Eric McAnena netted the second goal by volleying the ball into the top corner off a cross from Michael Turner. Abdullah Albannay completed the scoring in the 32nd minute off a cross from Sebastian Moreno.

Widener (2-2-1) recorded nine shots in the contest. The Pride held the advantage in corner kicks 9-3, but was unable to convert on the opportunities.

Sophomores Tori Remondelli (Point Pleasant, NJ) and Grant Shaffer (Glen Rock, PA) each managed two shots and sophomore Eric Taylor (Bensalem, PA) had what could have been Widener's best chance by taking a shot to the right side that tested opposing goalkeeper Patrick Loube.

Widener returns home on Tuesday against Swarthmore at 6:00 pm.
