Women’s Lacrosse Loses To Stevenson, 20-7

(boxscore)

Widener traveled to Owings Mills, MD today to take on Stevenson in a Commonwealth Conference face-off, and came home with a 20-7 loss.

Stevenson got on the board just two minutes into the game with Leah Warner's 40th goal of the season and got up on Widener 8-0 with 12 minutes remaining in the first half before Pride freshman Meghan Garvey (Landenberg, PA) got her 17th goal of the season past Mustang goalkeeper Leanne Bittner. Sophomore Mackenzie Lindquist (Ocean City, NJ) scored a goal on a free position shot with just under four minutes remaining on the clock in the first, and Warner netted her 42nd goal with a minute and a half on the clock to make the score 11-2 Stevenson going into the half.

Senior Laura Kalbach (Lancaster, PA) and Lindquist scored back-to-back goals in the beginning of the second half, but it was returned by three Mustang goals. With 10 minutes left, sophomore Megan Granata (Broomall, PA) hit her 61st goal of the season, with the assist going to senior Julia Costello (Brookhaven, PA), and Garvey made her second goal of the game with six minutes remaining.

Widener played down to the very last second, with Granata getting the ball to the back of the net with no assist with just two seconds on the clock, but it was not enough as the Pride lost today's game 20-7 to Stevenson.

Sophomore Megan Dunn (Oxford, PA) played the full 60 minutes between the posts and made six saves. Senior Amy Albano (Columbia, MD) picked up five groundballs and Garvey won six draw controls.

Widener on Tuesday will host Cabrini beginning at 7:00 pm.
