Baseball Ends Florida Journey With 7-1 Loss to John Carroll

Widener ran into a tough squad in John Carroll and was handed a 7-1 loss to close its six-game Florida trip in Fort Myers, FL.
 
Senior Dennis Hocker (Coral Springs, FL) has played solidly this season to date and continued that today with two hits.  Senior Brendan O'Brien (Coatesville, PA) singled and freshman Alex Barclay (Crofton, MD) added a pinch-hit single in the ninth inning.
 
Junior Sam Christie (Upper Darby, PA) drew three walks and scored the lone run for Widener (2-6) on a hit by pitch in the first inning.
 
Sophomore Robert Barth (Norristown, PA) struck out two over 6 2/3 innings for the Pride, allowing seven runs of which one was earned.
 
The Blue Streaks (7-3) ended the contest with 16 hits.
 
Widener plays its home opener Tuesday against Rutgers-Camden, starting at 3:00 pm.
